This is the story of a young boy’s journey into adulthood (1957-1963), told in “apple pie” slices. Join Tucker as he comes of age, stumbles head-on into a decade of whirlwind events, and experiences the explosive development in popular music called Rock & Roll. There are few times in our history when so many things changed so fast, and in so many directions.
If I could, I’d be in heaven, in a TV town in ‘57.
It felt so good, it felt so right. Life looked better in black and white.
Following the post-war readjustment in the 50s, televisions mushroomed in homes across the country; satellites were launched; commercial jet travel began; and technology was unleashed for its dramatic rise in the late 20th century.
And the music took on a backbeat and guided a revolution in sound and rhythm.
Each fictional chapter concludes with an interview (by the author) with a top recording artist and legend of the times (along with a photo and brief discography). The interviews reveal, in the words of the performers, what was going on in their lives while their music influenced ours.
Tucker Pitts will be enjoyed by older readers, as well as young adults, and provides general taste of these times which can be shared between generations.
